Pre-Approval
Getting pre-approved is an essential part of expediting the home-buying process. A mortgage pre-qualification is helpful in establishing a budget. When you get pre-approved, however, the lender will check your credit to approve a specific amount, eliminating possible roadblocks down the line.
Contact Star for some lenders she’s come to know and trust over the years so she can start looking at gorgeous homes that fit into your personal budget.
Escrow and Closing Costs
When considering your budget for a home, Star wants you to make sure to include closing costs in the mix. Escrow (a fee paid to the title company or attorney for closing, also called the closing fee) is just one of a few closing costs to consider. It’s also important to think about application fees, processing and potential attorney fees when purchasing in Houston. Generally a buyer can expect to pay between 2 and 5% of the cost of the home in closing fees.

Home Warranty
A home warranty isn’t an insurance policy, but a service contract that fixes specified components. Basic home warranties run between $350 and $500 a year…pretty reasonable considering the unexpected problems they’re meant to cover, including major appliances and system parts.
Generally the seller will include this as incentive to the buyer, but not always. Star always works with you to get you the best deal possible.
